The Bujinkan Martial Art:
The Bujinkan is an organization created by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi in order to honor his late teacher Takamatsu Toshitsugu, the last combat Ninja of the 20th century. The organization is comprised of nine different warrior schools. Hatsumi Soke formed the Bujinkan or Hall of the Warrior God to disseminate the essence of these nine warrior traditions in a total body feeling way of study he calls Budo Taijutsu.
Budo Taijutsu uses waza (fighting scenarios) and Kata like movements, but make no mistake that this is a combat oriented warrior art. Training methods include striking, grappling, escaping, and weapons systems. There is no sport style sparring but training is physical focusing on realistic self-defense techniques.
The Initial Curriculum Consists of:
· Junan Taiso - Conditioning and flexibility exercises. · Ukemi— Injury prevention. · Kihon Happo— Fighting scenarios. · San Shin no kata exercises—For developing a strong body and clear spirit.
